I’m a year behind schedule, but I finally updated my site. As I mentioned in my last post, I spent a huge amount of free time going through the last 3 years of images. I found a nice mix of favorites that I have previously posted here on the blog as well as images that I have never shown before. My original site was designed in Dreamweaver, while this was much easier than writing it from scratch in HTML, I still found it to be fairly labor intensive and one of the reasons that I kept putting this project on the back burner.
I was drawn to WordPress because of my involvement with Nature Visions and the Mid Atlantic Nature Photography Expo. It took me a couple weeks to get my head around using a server based approach to web design rather than doing it on my PC and uploading the finished product. The cool thing about WordPress is that you can use themes to change the look and feel of your site. I decided on Photocrati. This one theme offers multiple designs and layouts. Once I decided on the theme I literally had the site up and running within a couple of hours. With the new site I can add photos and create new pages in a snap. I can also promise I will be adding new pictures on an ongoing basis rather than doing a major redesign every few years.
While WordPress is primarily a blogging platform, I really like Blogger and see no advantage to hosting my blog and web site on the same server. My blog here on Blogger will continue to be the primary outlet for posting my adventures and new work. One other item of note, my blog now reformats for mobile devices so you can follow along with Android or iPhone.
Head on over to Don Rosenberger Photography and check out the new layout and images.
